For Eddie...(regarding the Bolex)

Done some investigation for you this morning as to Lenses for your Bolex. You can get many C-Mount adapters that will work with your Bolex. Some of these will adapt Nikon or Pentax mount lenses to your camera.

These lenses are GREAT low cost film lenses. The coatings used on 35mm stills lenses (for your SLR) are of a very high quality. So for a tenth of the price you can buy great prime lenses.

A few things to keep in mind though:

- Stills photography zoom lenses might not maintain focus throughout the zoom. So as you zoom you have to refocus. This is fine for a SLR, but obviously not very good for film work. But then zooming looks kind of cheesy anyway, you should rather dolly in.

- Because you are only using 16mm of the 35mm frame, you are sort-of doubling the focal length of the lens. So a 25mm Nikon lens is going to give you kind of what a 50mm lens made for the bolex would give you. So you aren't going to get super-wide lenses this way.

- You can use cheap filters designed for SLR cameras! I have a Cokin-P filter holder and hood for my camera. These filters are cheap - about 10 quid new. (Film filters are REALLY expensive). They also work great!

- C-Mount filter adapters are about 100 quid new or 50 on ebay. I can tell you a few places to look for them. Actually saying that I have a c-mount to arri-standard adapter that I could sell you.

That is all I can think of right now.

Oops. Finger trouble. In my first post - where I say "C-Mount filter adapters", I meant to say "C-Mount adapters".

So the answer is 50 quid secondhand, or about 100 new.
